Prototype application for SANS oriented system modeling.

NOTICE: As of March 31, 2009, the SliceView prototype is no longer supported. It has been superceeded by the final production application SansView. Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

Roadmap:

SliceView is a prototype application provided to the community to generate feedback. It is intentionally limited in scope and functionality, and is part of a broader effort to provide analysis tools to the SANS community. In providing this application, we hope to learn about the analysis needs of our users. We are interested in suggestions in two areas:
  • Functionality: what functionality would you like to see in an analysis application for SANS
  • Ease-of-use: how would you improve the user interface
The functionality provided by SliceView will be incorporated in a more complete analysis application scheduled for late 2008. SliceView will continue to be supported until the new application is released, and updates will mostly focus on bug fixing.

New features for version 0.2.0:

  • Added plug-in mechanism for 2D data manipulation and models.
  • Here's an example of a model plugin
  • Here's an example of a data plugin
  • Added plug-in mechanism for data readers.
  • Here's an example of a reader plugin
  • Added zooming for plots.
  • Added the possibility to linearize a plot by selecting from a set of scales.
  • Added linear fit for scaled data.
  • Added shape-independent models.

New features for version 0.1.7:

  • 1D data fitting has been added.
  • A new panel has been added to let the user define a Gaussian angular distribution for oriented models.
  • The layout has changed to let users arrange the various windows.
  • Circular averaging of loaded data has been added.

New features for version 0.0.2:

  • 2D data can be loaded and displayed in a separate window.
  • Slicers operate on both the model and the data.
  • The user can select a zmin and zmax value to synchronize the color map for the model and data plots.
  • 1D data can be loaded and overlayed on the slicer plot.
  • History functionality bugs have been fixed.
  • The user can select the radius of a beam stop to be displayed.
  • The user can toggle between linear and log scale on all plots.

Installation and Usage:

  • Currently only supported on Windows: download the installer.
  • Download the Tutorial

Download links:

  • Windows installer v0.2.2
  • Documentation: Description of the models
  • ImageConverter 0.1 A tiny application to convert an image into a SliceView-readeable data files. You will need to fill out the form to enter beam and detector information. The application will produce a file with a .sans extension. You can load this file in SliceView by clicking File -> Load 2D data.
